Four prominent members of the Bourbon community will join forces to lead a very special private tasting event benefiting the March of Dimes on Wednesday, April 12, including Fred Minnick, Wall Street Journal bestselling author; Michael Veach, author, historian, and Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame Member; Chris Zaborowski, owner of Westport Whiskey & Wine; and Linda Ruffenach, founder of the Whisky Chicks. Each will dip into their own private Bourbon selection to contribute something special to share with guests.

Kelly and Glenn Hubbuch, the 2017 March for Babies Ambassador family, have ties to the Bourbon industry. Kelly previously served as the marketing coordinator for the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience and later became the Social Media Manager for Heaven Hill’s Whiskey Portfolio. Early into Kelly’s pregnancy, doctors discovered a very rare genetic disorder called Trisomy 16 in her blood, and they were given the heart-wrenching news that their daughter would likely not survive to birth. Miraculously, the disease did not reach her in the womb, and their daughter, Reese, was born at 31 weeks, weighing just 1 pound, 15 ounces.

Nothing could have ever prepared Kelly and Glenn to see their daughter born so small. The NICU is often compared to a roller coaster ride, and for good reason. They spent 75 whirlwind days there watching as Reese fought and overcame multiple battles before finally being discharged to come home. Reese is now a happy, healthy 20-month- old who brings light into the lives of the Hubbuch family.

Here are just a few of the Bourbon industry items that will be up for auction to raise funds for the March of Dimes.

“We have a tremendous love and appreciation for the March of Dimes and all of the incredible research that they do to help babies like Reese,” said Kelly Hubbuch. “We will forever be grateful to the March of Dimes, and we’re honored to serve as the 2017 March for Babies Ambassador family. In sharing Reese’s story, we hope to raise further awareness of prematurity and the effects that it has on the entire family. We’re thrilled to be a part of the Bourbon Benefit supporting the March of Dimes, where attendees will not only enjoy a unique tasting experience, but will also help to provide a fighting chance for every baby.”

The event will be held at the Whisky Chicks Loft, a private event space located directly on Whiskey Row. Guests will enjoy an evening of cocktails, educational Bourbon tastings, and a silent auction featuring an array of Bourbon-themed items donated by Kentucky distilleries, including signed bottles, glassware, branded apparel, barrel heads, books, tour tickets, and more. All proceeds will benefit the March of Dimes. A limited number of tickets are available for $75 and can be purchased at WhiskyChicks.com or on Eventbrite at BourbonMarchofDimes.eventbrite.com.
