Copperhead Distillery - Whiskey Row Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Bottled in Bond

Kentucky Artisan Distillery is tucked in Crestwood, Oldham County, Kentucky. This quiet craft spirits distillery has been mashing, fermenting, distilling, barreling and bottling Kentucky bourbon since its founding in 2012. It first showed up to a larger bourbon audience when it became the official home of Jefferson’s Reserve Bourbon. When you visit the distillery you’ll certainly see signs of Jefferson’s but it does not dominate the distillery. What you will see is a collection of brands that were contracted to be distilled or bottled here.

Now, for the first time Kentucky Artisan Distillery is releasing a 4 year and 8 month old bourbon of their own. The distillery has just released a small batch Whiskey Row Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. This newly released BIB bourbon was mashed, fermented, pot distilled and bottled in April 2016 using a four grain mash bill of 67% corn, 20% rye, 5% wheat and 8% malted barley. The corn and rye grains were sourced locally by the neighboring 700 acres Waldeck Farm.

This latest release has two expressions. The distillate was entered into the barrels at 110° proof and increased to 113° proof before being bottled at Bottled-in-Bond 100° proof. All the barrels were aged in the Kentucky Artisan Warehouse C which is a single story palletized warehouses stacked five barrels tall. The first expression is a 13 barrel small batch blend that netted out just under 3,000 bottles. The second expression is a pair of single barrels that filled just over 200 bottles.

Whiskey Row Bottled-in-Bond Tasting Notes

“Whiskey Row, Bottled in Bond is an exceptionally distilled Bourbon Whiskey from Oldham County, Kentucky,” said Brand Manager Jeremy Dever. “It exemplifies farm to bottle and unlike many other bourbon brands, it has a four-grain mash bill and nothing is sourced. This was truly a labor of love by Steve, Jade, and the entire crew at Kentucky Artisan Distillery.”

These tasting notes are provided by company Founder Steve Thompson, President of TSS Brands, LLC, and Kentucky Artisan Distillery Master Distiller Jade Peterson. “These carefully selected barrels present both a unique and enjoyable taste profile,” said Peterson. “Tasting notes include caramel, ginger, apricots, vanilla, peaches, baking spices and brown sugar.”

Whiskey Row Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) and has a suggested retail price of $69. It is available now at the distillery and select retailers throughout Kentucky.
