Southern Distilling Company is a family-owned company based in Statesville, North Carolina. Distillery Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor requires a range of skillsets and oversees a variety work environments. This position is involved in cleaning, equipment maintenance, bottling, packaging, warehousing, record keeping, mash cooking, fermenting, distilling, and general labor. The candidate must be able to successfully lead a team, communicate effectively, be ambitious, self-tasked, open to a fluid daily schedule, and possess a keen attention to detail.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct cooks and distillations in support of the distillery’s production schedule and high standards
  • Maintain the distillery’s high standards of cleanliness and sanitation at all times
  • Operate and maintain grain handling equipment including hoppers, augers, silos, and mill
  • Oversee mashing and distillation, barrel filling, and bottling equipment with direct involvement as needed
  • Record daily production logs relating to mashing, distillation, sampling, bottling, shipping and receiving
  • Operate distillery management software system
  • Record and report inventory
  • Maintain equipment and work environment to ensure high quality operating standards
  • Communicate and organize shipping and receiving logistics
  • Monitor equipment controls and report abnormal activity or safety issues
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as forklift, scissor lift, and tractor
  • Prioritize and execute tasks independently
  • Accept accountability for roles and responsibilities as well as the team’s

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Three years minimum experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of General Manufacturing Procedures

Additional Qualifications

  • Can lift 50 pounds
  • At least 21 years old
  • Valid NC Driver’s License
  • Has no alcohol-related offenses on their record
  • Strong orientation toward quality control and safety
  • Basic knowledge of fermentation and distillation
  • Communicates well with co-workers and customers
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Cares about the customer and always provides exemplary customer service
  • Proficient with Mac computers, Microsoft Office software, iOS apps
  • Physically capable of working on feet, standing for long period of time, sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, and kneeling in an unconditioned environment
  • Strives for excellence in their work
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism in both personal and professional life

Additional Notes

  • Saturday and/or alternate shift hours may be required

Job Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $16.00 to $18.00/hour depending on experience.
