Crafting the finest Kentucky Bourbon starts with our people. Jackson Purchase Distillery was founded in 2011 but our distillery family tree dates back some 225+ years. Our distilling expertise is led by Master Distiller Craig Beam, a seventh-generation distiller with a Kentucky bourbon legacy dating back to 1795. The Beam name is recognized as one of the most knowledgeable names in the spirits industry. During Craig’s former 35-year career at Heaven Hill, he followed his grandfather Earl Beam’s, and his father Parker Beam’s footsteps, rising to Master Distiller before coming to Jackson Purchase. Beam works alongside our Assistant Master Distiller and Plant Manager Terry Ballard. Terry previously helped Willett Distillery revive their products to become some of the most sought-after bourbon and rye on the market today. Working his way through the gambit of operational processes, Terry learned the intricate and subtle nuances that separate a good bourbon from a great bourbon. He knows what it takes to make great bourbon—and he knows how to achieve it.

Fresh Western Kentucky Water – Deep beneath the rich black soil of the river bottom land and the fertile rolling hills in Western Kentucky lay’s an abundant supply of fresh, sweet water. Jackson Purchase Distillery draws from this source with its own on-site calcium-rich well.
Local Grains – Deep beneath the rich black soil of the river bottom land and the fertile rolling hills in Western Kentucky’s vast areas of arable land, drawing from its natural water source, is a distiller’s dream. The surrounding farmlands lie on some of the richest soils of sand, silt, and clay fed from the surrounding river bottomlands. Jackson Purchase Distillery has direct relationships with local farmers to source the region’s highest quality corn and wheat for use in the production of our Kentucky bourbon.
100% Copper Stills – We believe to capitalize on the finest water and finest grains, the finest stills ensure a smoother, less bitter bourbon with the potential of maturing into a great Kentucky bourbon. We invest in the equipment with 100% copper stills, 100% copper condensers, and 100% copper doublers to ensure excellent bourbon for our customers.
Climate and Aging – It is thought that Kentucky bourbon gets up to 70% of its sweet flavor notes from the wood in the new charred white oak barrels. The hot humid Western Kentucky summer days draws the whiskey into the wood grain of the barrels where it picks up the deep rich flavors. The Jackson Purchase Distillery and warehouse sits in the warmest region in all of Kentucky, giving our Kentucky bourbon a distinct advantage.

Back in the old days, in the old school of distilling, your still had to be copper. Copper impacts beer differently than stainless steel, so it produces, in my opinion, a finer whiskey.”
