About

Founding Fathers Distillery is located on 100-acre working farm along Deep River in High Point, Guilford County, North Carolina. Founding Fathers is a small batch, craft distillery offering fine sipping whisky and rum, meticulously hand made by co-owners Jeff Cooper and Marta Smith Price.

At Founding Fathers Distillery, we believe quality is more important than quantity. Our whisky is produced from small batches and aged in single barrels of new charred American White Oak. The barrels are made to our specifications by the finest cooperage, toasted and charred to meet design profiles, and aged according to quality and performance standards established by our distiller and designer.

All of our spirits are designed and created, fermented and distilled, aged and bottled, all under one roof with care, craft, and quality establishing the benchmark in every step. We’re different in that we believe age and aging statements create a bias. Though our whisky’s age can be stated in terms of years, we believe that great whisky begins on day one! The interactions of the distiller, the spirits, and the art of the oak are in every bottle, every sip, every aroma, and every nuance of its complex flavor profile.

Our Process

Want to know how long our whisky is aged? Take a sip and imagine. The owner of Founding Fathers Distillery, Jeff, sought to create a new way of distilling, his way of distilling. One that is not bound by tradition and not steeped in the bias that the more time a whisky spends in a barrel, the better it is. At Founding Fathers Distillery, we “Dance With The Spirits”. We believe in quality over quantity which is why we produce Single Barrel, Small Batch runs and only use the finest ingredients and yeasts tailored specifically to our processes.

Barley – We use high-quality, American-sourced grain. Barley produces a beautiful spirit with amazing flavors and aromas. This is where Cooper’s Cut begins.
Yeast – The yeast strains we use are specifically designed for our grain in order to balance the ester concentrations and add floral and fruity aromas to the overall character and complexity of the spirit.
Water – A deep Artesian aquifer running under and through American History provides the crystalline water used in the entire process.
Oak – The entire process involves several sciences and engineering, but The Art Is In The Oak. We primarily use New American White Oak with a secondary exposure to French Oak, charred and toasted to achieve a broad and complex three-dimensional flavor profile. Considered among the finest Whiskies judged for Quality, Flavor, Body, Smoothness, and Complexity, Cooper’s Cut is consistently ranked as “The best Whisky I have ever had!” Pour a glass and imagine.

Now offering private tours & tastings!

Tastings are offered in our new tasting room, outfitted for comfort and adventures in the art of tasting premium spirits. Front and back porches invite you to “sit a spell”, reflect, hear yourself think…unless of course, your thoughts are interrupted by the sounds of eagles, hawks, various other birds singing loudly or the sight of deer, wild turkeys, mating blue birds or blue herons in flight.

What People Are Saying…
“in all honestly this is probably the best Malt Whisky I have ever had… truly a balanced start and finish. It’s like I’m getting the smokiness and the oak in just the right amount! Not bitter – not straight tobacco – definitely not a one trick pony – it’s seasoned with specific intent – bravo sir!”
