Our story begins with our forefather Joseph Washington Dant and an old hollowed out log. With it, he fashioned a still and gave birth to the Dant family’s place in bourbon lore with a legacy all our own. In 1836, he started a story of heritage, and Kentucky bourbon has flowed through our family’s veins ever since.
Seven generations later, we’re still following in his footsteps and building something new on our Old Kentucky Home.
This is a story of revival, where faith and chance make quite the pair. Log Still Distillery is the proof you can always come home, and that our bourbon won’t distill too far from the tree. To make our long, long story short, we’re the Dant family, and we’re back in the bourbon business.
Log Still Distillery’s ‘Monk’s Road’ Spirits

It is here, along the rutted country lane to the old homeplace, where we now forge a new road at Log Still Distillery. To christen the journey, allow us to introduce Monk’s Road.
Our first offering of Bourbons and Gins that embody a true reflection of our most sacred values: faith, family and community. So, with a respectful nod to the past, we propose a toast — to the road ahead.
Monk’s Road Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey – The first release of our Fifth District series pays homage to a Cold Spring Distillery: a historic distillery in southern Nelson County, Kentucky, that was located on the property of our new distillery today. This 6-year-old single barrel bourbon masterfully mixes notes of corn, rye, and malted barley for a product that rekindles the spirit of yesteryear. Learn more.
Monk’s Road Dry Gin – Our essential gin is a unique offering from the Kentucky hills of Nelson County, with a delicate balance of distinctly complementary botanicals. We’ve married watermelon rind with zests of orange and lemon for a bright and fresh flavor-creating the perfect gin for all seasons and palates. Sip it slowly and neat or dress it up in a cocktail. This palate pleaser possesses an air of refinement. Learn more.
Monk’s Road Barrel Finished Gin – Utilizing our bourbon barrels, we handcrafted this barrel-finished gin in homage to the rolling Kentucky hills we call home, allowing fresh botanicals coriander, cranberry, juniper, and nutmeg to develop and mature into the perfect flavor profile. Smooth and complex with a subtle hint of smoke, Monk’s Road Barrel Finished Gin reflects the pride of the place and tradition that the Log Still family is known for. Learn more.
Rattle & Snap Tennessee Whiskey
Rattle and Snap – the forgotten Southern game of chance. More than a few fortunes were won and lost on this risky Southern diversion. So, when it comes to making whiskey, when it comes to taking risks, and when it comes to boldly doing things our own way, you could say we were born into it. Learn more.
