Since its founding, Copper & Kings American Brandy Company in Louisville, Kentucky, has always rocked to their own beat. Just take a stroll into their barrel aging warehouse and it’s apparent with the sounds of rock n’ roll sonically aging their distillate that something is different about this brand. Not to mention that it is a distillery making brandy in the heart of bourbon country.
Copper & Kings was founded in 2014 by serial entrepreneurs Joe and Lesley Herron. Back in 2018 the founders sold an interest in Copper & Kings to Constellation Brands, headquarters in Rochester, New York. About a year and a half later in September of 2020, it was announced that Constellation had purchased all of Copper & Kings. The brand that had always been fiercely independent and played by ear to its own beat had been acquired by a corporation headquartered 599 miles away.
With this latest news, that has all changed as the ownership of Copper & Kings American Brandy Co. has moved back home with the acquisition by Bourdon Spirits Company, a family-owned spirits company based in Louisville. The new owners say the move marks a key milestone and deepens Bourdon Spirits’ investment in the future of American brandy.

As is often the case, financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. The deal on the brandy brand officially closed on August 5, 2025.
