Casey Jones Disitillery - Total Eclipse Moonshine, Official Spirit of the Total Solar Eclipse

Mid-day total darkness will be crossing the continental United States for the first time in 38 years on August 21, 2017. No, it’s not plagues of locust flying through the air, it’s a rare total solar eclipse that will be cutting a path from the west coast to the east coast across with the epicenter of darkness near Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

If you want to experience the longest period of darkness in the country, you need to be at the Casey Jones Distillery in Hopkinsville. The eclipse will cover the area with total darkness for 2 minutes and 41.2 seconds beginning Monday, August 21 at 1:24 CDT. You can check out this interactive NASA solar map to see the exact time and duration of darkness across the entire U.S.

Casey’s Cut Total Eclipse Moonshine

To celebrate this unique experience the clever distillers at Casey Jones have developed a 100 Proof Moonshine aptly named, “Casey’s Cut Total Eclipse Moonshine,” the “Official Drink of the 2017 Solar Eclipse”. It only seems appropriate for a distilled spirit that has its roots in being created by the light of the moon to be celebrating mid-day darkness.

“Not only is Casey Jones Distillery the best place to see the solar eclipse on August 21, 2017, but between now and then, it’s also the best place to taste the eclipse. This latest in the Casey’s Cut lineup of spirits has proven to be one of our most popular yet,” says Master Distiller, Arlon Casey “AJ” Jones.

AJ says each Casey’s Cut bottle, whether the commemorative eclipse drink or one of their five other corn whiskey spirits, is handcrafted at the distillery. Each drop that comes off their unique coffin shaped “Golden Pond” copper still is tested for quality, and bottled with care at the small-batch distillery.
