If you want to be a part of a historic moment in the Bourbon whiskey world, now’s your chance. The J.W. Rutledge Distillery crowdfunding campaign lead by former Four Roses Bourbon Master Distiller Jim Rutledge is underway. The campaign went live today with a 30 day goal of raising $1,962,000 for the new distillery. The mid-size distillery plans include the capacity to produce approximately 40,000 barrels per year.
As the JW Rutledge Distillery team has stated, they want to remain free of corporate structure. That freedom starts with avoiding traditional financing and instead going direct to the people with a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. If you are not familiar with Indiegogo its a launchpad for creative and entrepreneurial ideas of every shape and size. It’s about makers, movers and shakers that want to take their dream and turn it into a reality using non-traditional financing. People that want to participate can choose from a variety of perks at a several different price points. The perks can go anywhere from a simple, Thank You to an early version of the actual product or service. A campaign generally runs for 30 days but could last longer. If the initial goal is met prior to the end of the campaign a stretch goal is typically introduced to take advantage of the momentum for the project.
