Maker’s Mark 2015 Collector’s Bottle to Honor UK’s Adolf Rupp
Just in time for NCAA March Madness, Maker’s Mark is getting ready to release their 2015 “Wax Museum” collector’s bottle of bourbon. This years bottle will honor legendary University of Kentucky basketball coach Adolf Rupp.
Adolph Rupp coached the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team from 1930 to 1972. The honors and accomplishments include induction into three basketball halls of fame, four-time National Coach of the Year, 876 wins for an 82.2% winning percentage, an undefeated season (1954), 129 consecutive home games without a loss, an Olympic gold medal (1948), an NIT Championship (1964), and four National Championships (1948, 1949, 1951, 1958).
The bottle is being created in partnership with the Keeneland Association, with proceeds from the sale of these bottles benefiting CATS, the University of Kentucky’s Center for Academic and Tutorial Services. The CATS center provides primary academic support for more than 500 student athletes.
The bottle will go on sale about April 3, in time for the signing April 10 at Keeneland on Maker’s Mark 46 Mile Day at the track in Lexington, Kentucky.
“This much is true, no coach has a monopoly on the knowledge of basketball. There are no secrets in the game. The only secrets, if there are any, are good teaching of sound fundamentals, intelligent handling of men, a sound system of play, and the ability to instill in the boys a desire to win.” — Adolph Rupp (1948, 1949, 1951, and 1958 Kentucky teams won the NCAA championship)
