Distillers are once again a creative bunch. Several hundred distilleries across the United States have shifted a portion or all of their distilling production over to making hand sanitizer for their local communities. Sugarlands Distilling Company in Gatlinburg, Tennessee is one of those distilleries but their creative generosity does not stop there.
Sugarlands Distilling Co. Honoring America’s Heroes
In addition to making hand sanitizer for their community this eastern Tennessee distillery is donating the proceeds from all t-shirt sales now through May 4, 2020 to purchase gift cards from local restaurants. The purchase of these gift cards will help to keep the cash flowing at local restaurants. These cards will then be given to first responders and healthcare providers who are going above and beyond the call of duty as they put their lives on the line as front line defenders against the Coronavirus.
With each t-shirt sold, Sugarlands will use all proceeds to purchase a gift card from a local restaurant. The gift cards will be given to a healthcare provider or first responder in the state where the t-shirt purchaser lives. Purchase a t-shirt, purchase a meal of gratitude for those who have been on the front lines risking their health to serve others and help local businesses that have been impacted by recent events.

It is crucial to continue to support local businesses and medical professionals and first responders who have been working tirelessly and selflessly to serve communities across the country.
“We want to show our deep appreciation for the many healthcare providers and first responders around the country who are doing so much to help our communities,” said Director of Communications Courtney DeLaura. “We hope that, through the simple act of purchasing gift cards, we can provide some rest for those who need it most during this challenging time, as well as support local restaurants that are continuing to serve their communities as well.”
A Similar Sugarlands Program Raised $30,000
“In 2016, Sugarlands ran a similar campaign in the aftermath of the Gatlinburg fires and raised over $30,000 from t-shirt sales,” said Corporate Communications Manager Sarah Davis. “Those funds were donated to assist Sugarlands employees who lost their homes and to the Appalachian Service Project to fund five homes built for Gatlinburg residents who were also affected. While we do not know how much we will raise through this campaign, we can only hope for a comparable outcome!”
Sugarlands Distilling Co. believes giving back to the community is of the utmost importance. Since 2014, Sugarlands Distilling Company has donated over $625,000 to nonprofits across the country through their giveback program, MoonShare.
