I see a lot of these awards come through on a regular basis. It’s usually the familiar names that pull in many of the top awards. This one is a bit different it that the brand name is well known but it’s not often you see them winning spirits awards. It’s a name that most people would think of as a bottom shelf choice or something you might pick it up for the company party punch bowl spirit. But, in this case a Member’s Mark spirit from Sam’s Club of all places pulled in second place award for its cream liqueur.
The award came from Tastings.com which is powered by the Beverage Testing Institute. The company provides beverage buying guides and education for consumers and the trade. They’ve been around since 1981 so they’ve been through a lot of cream liqueurs over the years.
Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark Egg Nog received a gold medal with a 93 point or “exceptional” rating. It’s a 30 proof (15% ABV) egg nog made with rum, cream, real eggs and cane sugar that is only available during the holidays with a suggested retail price of $9.98 for a 1.75L bottle.

Here’s what the Beverage Testing Institute had to say about the egg nog: “Opaque cream color. Spicy aromas of gingerbread cookie and egg nog with a creamy, vibrant, sweet full body and an effortless, refreshing, medium-length cheese Danish, spice cake, buttercream, and flan finish. A custardy treat with piles of festive holiday spice; great for gifting and sipping.”
