KO Distilling - Celebrates the Bunging of the 1,000 Barrel

KO Distilling of Manassas, Virginia was founded in 2013 and started distilling in 2015. Since then, Co-founders Bill Karlson and John O’Mara (the “K” and the “O” in KO Distilling) have been busy distilling gin, white dog whiskey along with aging bourbon and rye whiskey.

The three year old distillery has just celebrated filling and bunging of its 1,000 barrel of spirits. Like a lot of startup craft spirits makers, they started out selling unaged whiskey and gins then shifted to the barreling of bourbon and rye whiskey for aging. KO offers aged bourbon and rye whiskey that varies from 17 to 24 months.

KO Distilling sources all of its corn, wheat, rye and malted barley grains from local Virginia farms. The distillery offers tours, cocktails and bottle sales at its distillery.
