Craft distiller, Union Horse Distilling in Lenexa, Kansas continues its commitment to creating quality spirits as it brings its much anticipated Reunion Straight Rye Whiskey and Reserve Straight Bourbon Whiskey to market.
Reunion Straight Rye Whiskey is a 5 year old small batch, 100% rye whiskey, handcrafted from the finest quality rye in Union Horse’s 500 gallon copper still named Chester Copperpot. Chester made the trip from Vendome Copper and Brassworks in Louisville, Kentucky to Kansas a few years ago. Union says their rye unites smooth complex notes of butterscotch, caramel, ginger and cinnamon spice.

Reserve Straight Bourbon Whiskey is also a 5 year old small batch, artisanal whiskey. It’s made up of a mash of 80% corn and 20% rye in the copper pot still, then aged in their signature oak barrels. Union says their bourbon features tender notes of creamy vanilla, maple and smoke.
“We’re proud of our robust offering of small batch, craft spirits,” said Eric Garcia, general manager, Union Horse Distilling Company. “Our products are locally sourced and personally monitored from grain to glass. Reunion Straight Rye Whiskey and Reserve Straight Bourbon Whiskey give our family owned business more opportunities to offer our distinct perspective on spirits.”
“After pulling selected barrel samples and blending each one, we settled on 92 proof for bourbon and 93 for rye,” said Patrick Garcia, master distiller, Union Horse Distilling Company. “We feel the respective proofs are where the flavor notes of our latest spirits shine. With Reunion Straight Rye, we’ve crafted a spirit that captures what it means to be together, while Reserve Straight Bourbon is a subtle reminder that some things are best enjoyed slowly.”
The new whiskeys come from some of the earliest barrels laid down at Union Horse Distilling Company. They complement existing Union Horse Distilling Company spirits, Long Shot White Whiskey and Rider Vodka. Both the bourbon and the rye are expected to roll out to retailers, restaurants and bars over the next few weeks. Union Horse Distilling Company distributes in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. The Reunion Straight Rye Whiskey will retail for $39 to $41 while the Reunion Straight Bourbon Whiskey will retail for $36 to $38.
