Four Roses Distillery - Limted Edition Small Batch 2021 Release, Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky has announced its annual Limited Edition Small Batch just in time for Bourbon Heritage Month.

This year’s 2021 Limited Edition Four Roses release takes advantage of four of the distillery’s 10 proprietary yeast strain and mashbill bourbon recipes. Here is a detailed breakdown with the recipe and age of each bourbon used for this year’s release.

  • 16 Year Old Bourbon from the OBSV recipe
  • 14 Year Old Bourbon from the OBSQ recipe
  • 12 Year Old Bourbon from the OESK recipe
  • 16 Year Old Bourbon from the OESV recipe

The net result is a non-chill filtered bourbon that offers the Small Batch’s highest proof ever at 114.2° (57.1% ABV).

“Hand-selecting the barrels to make up our annual limited edition bottling is one of my most rewarding experiences each year,” said Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliott. “The ability to work with 10 bourbon recipes each with distinct characteristics opens up endless possibilities.

“This year’s release brings a proof higher than any of the past Limited Editions, creating robust complexity and layers of flavors resulting from the variety of constituent batches and recipes.”

Four Roses 2021 Small Batch Tasting Notes

Elliot says the 2021 Limited Edition Small Batch offers elegant aromas of ripe berries, light floral and rich warm oak. The Bourbon is complemented by flavors of plum, orange peel and delicate spice leading to a rich, soft and lasting finish boasting vanilla cream and dark chocolate.

Four Roses will distribute approximately 14,500 hand-numbered bottles of the 2021 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon beginning in late September. The release will be available at the distillery and select retailers across the country with a suggested retail price of $150.
