Maggie's Farm Distillery - 100% Natural Pineapple Flavored Rum

Maggie’s Farm Rum distillery located in the historic Strip District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has been making rum since late 2013. For the first time in their nearly five year history, they are releasing their first flavored rum. Don’t worry, founder and head distiller Tim Russell has not gone over to the dark side, his new rum is flavored with 100% real pineapples, no artificial additives or sugars.

“We’ve used our “50/50″ dark rum method where we blend an aged Trinidadian rum fermented and column-distilled from molasses, then blend it equally with our own pot-distilled raw cane-based rum and age for up to an additional 6-9 months,” said Tim Russell Maggie’s Rum Founder and Head Distiller. “In this case, we’ve taken fresh, whole pineapples, macerated the meat in the dark rum portion for two weeks to infuse the juices and flavors.”

“We then blended it equally with our white rum made from a distillation with pineapple meat and bark loaded both into our 1000 Liter Hoga copper pot still, as well as filling the still’s “gin” basket with pineapple barks for the vapors to capture additional natural fruit oils.”

“We then combined both distillates to capture the full essence of this tropical fruit, and keeping it 100% natural; No added sugars, and no artificial ingredients. This resulted in a dark rum with a genuine pineapple flavor and subtle sweetness while remaining relatively dry compared to most flavored spirits where back-sweetening with additional sugar is common practice.”

Maggie’s Farm Pineapple Rum is 80° proof (40% ABV) and has a suggested retail price of $40 per 750ml bottle. It goes on sale Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the distillery.
