Casey Jones Distillery - South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council - Casey Jones Distillery Rickhouse Groundbreaking, Tossing of the Dirt

Casey Jones Distillery in Hopkinsville, Kentucky is continuing with its $2 million expansion plans announced earlier this year. Expansion plans include new distilling equipment to meet growing spirits demand, an expanded visitor experience and a new barrel warehouse. This latest groundbreaking was to celebrate the tossing of dirt for their new 3,000 barrel, 7,000 square foot barrel rickhouse.

The barrel warehouse is the first post-prohibition structure of its type in Hopkinsville. The distillery has opted for a pole barn style structure with traditional 53-gallon barrel storage ricks to accommodate side bunged barrels.

The project team includes John H. Comperry of CS Architects, Robert L. Pickerill of Bell Engineering and Builder David Zimmerman of Western Kentucky Framing.

The new barrel warehouse is situated right off the distillery’s main entrance and will be highly visible as a new centerpiece for the distillery. Slated for completion in late November 2022 it will be used for both storage and tourism as a focal point for extended tours, onsite barrel picks, and barrel tasting opportunities.

Casey Jones Distillery was founded in 2014 by Arlon Casey ‘AJ’ Jones, grandson of square still builder Casey Jones, and his wife Peg Hays. The indomitable team operate the distillery with a focus on tradition and authenticity in the distillation of small-batch craft spirits. Building on an infamous family history of still building, bootlegging, and Kentucky whiskey, Casey Jones Distillery produces award winning Kentucky bourbons and moonshine.
