 In Blog

With today’s ongoing stay at home orders in-person events are harder and harder to come by. Dates of events have either been postponed or totally canceled. In the case of Fred Minnick his signature Bourbon & Beyond Festival scheduled for September is no exception. The in-person event attracted more than 90,000+ bourbon fans in 2019. Unfortunately, this years event has already been cancelled. So, what do you do? You create a new online only virtual event to satisfy the needs of spirits fans around the world.

Wall Street Journal best selling spirits author Fred Minnick along with 2019 Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame inductee and author of Which Fork Do I Use with My Bourbon? Peggy Noe Stevens have teamed up with several other bourbon personalities to create the first ever five and a half hour virtual event – Whiskey from Home. An event that won’t run on a single online platform but an event that will simultaneously air on YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, dLink, Periscope, and Twitter using Restream.io.

Streaming Seminars, Tastings, Food Pairings, and Cocktails

Whiskey From Home lasts five and half hours whiskey-soaked entertainment will include bourbon history, the best bourbons to buy right now, craft whiskey exploration, how to host a kick-ass tasting, and blind flights. Viewers can purchase bourbon, food, and cocktail ingredients from their local stores to follow along with cocktail breaks, a virtual food pairing with Stevens, and a virtual bourbon tasting with Minnick. With an integrated live chat, participants can network with each other and interact with the presenters.

“This was an opportunity to bring a force of recognizable bourbon names together and build a first of its kind,” says Minnick, a co-founder of Bourbon & Beyond and editor-in-chief of Bourbon+ Magazine. “This gives everyone sitting at home that has ever wanted to attend a whiskey conference a chance to do it for free.”

The entertaining and educational sessions include the following bourbon personalities: Bourbon & Banter, Bourbon Pursuit, Bourbonr, Breaking Bourbon, Dad’s Drinking Bourbon, Fred Minnick author of Bourbon Curious: A Tasting Guide for the Savvy Drinker, It’s Bourbon Night, Peggy Noe Stevens, Rare Bird 101, Sipp’n Corn author of Bourbon Justice, Subourbia, t8ke.review, The Bourbon Enthusiast, and The Bourbon Review.
