WhistlePig Whiskey - Visitor Center and Tasting Room, Louisville, Kentucky 2025

WhistlePig Whiskey Distillery in Shoreham, Vermont, began as a spirits brand known for its rye whiskey. The distillery launched in 2008 with distilling operations led by late Master Distiller Dave Pickerell. Now 17 years after its founding, the Vermont based distillery will be making its way to Kentucky with its sites set on becoming an official part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.

WhistlePig officially announced the new location one block off Louisville’s Whiskey Row in January 2025. After many months of construction their opening date is near and expected to happen in September according to R&D Master Distiller Mitch Mahar (that’s Mitch in the video below).

The WhistlePig Vault will be located at the former First National Bank. According to the real estate listing from a few years ago, “This historic property, located at 403 E. Market Street, was originally built as a bank in 1912. At the time, it was home to the largest bank vault in Kentucky. The vault remains in the building, as well as many of its other original architectural features. Despite having an array of tenants over the years, the building’s exterior limestone facade, including its four limestone columns and cast-iron fencing, have been historically preserved.”
