It’s been rumored for a while and it’s been seen popping up at whiskey tasting events with Bulleit’s founder, Tom Bulleit over the last year. Now, Bulleit has confirmed the release of Barrel Strength Bulleit Bourbon. If you like a high proof spicy rye, you’ll want to try this 118 to 125 proof bourbon.
Out of the Barrel, uncut and unfiltered, this whiskey delivers unrivaled boldness and complexity. I’ve reserved select barrels to be bottled at true barrel strength to offer you this unique and distinctive release of my straight bourbon whiskey.
With best personal regards,
The release says that they have officially launched “Bulleit Barrel Strength Frontier Whiskey in his (Tom’s) home state of Kentucky.” It’s distilled in Kentucky with the same high-rye mash bill – roughly 2/3 corn and 1/3 rye. In April, Bulleit Barrel Strength received a Gold Medal from the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Bulleit’s Barrel Strength Bourbon was bottled at the Stitzel-Weller in Louisville, Ky. Multiple barrels were emptied and combined into a single batch without the addition of any water. What people will be tasting is Bulleit Bourbon straight out of the barrel, uncut and non-chill filtered.

Tasting Notes from Bulleit
Bulleit Barrel Strength is medium-amber in color, with gentle spiciness and sweet oak aromas. The mid-palate is smooth with tones of maple, oak, and nutmeg. The finish is long, dry and satiny with a light toffee flavor, but with deepened oak notes.
Fabric Label in Black and Orange
Bulleit Barrel Strength is enclosed in the iconic Bulleit frontier-inspired bottle with a slight variation to its label. The orange label that appears on the Bulleit Bourbon bottle has been replaced with a black, fabric label with an orange accent as you can see below.
Barrel Strength Bulleit Bourbon will retail for $49.99 for 750ml bottle or $29.99 for the 375ml bottle. The proof will range from 118 to 125 depending on the batch.
