Bourbon Mixer 2016

The bourbon will be flowing when the Bourbon Brotherhood and Whiskey Chicks come together for the 3rd annual Bourbon Mixer. The spirited event is an opportunity to bring together bourbon aficionados and  bourbon novices alike to enjoy great bourbon, upscale southern cuisine and to raise funds for the Coalition for the Homeless. In its first two years, the Bourbon Mixer raised over $28,000 for local charities. Proceeds for the 2016 event will go toward providing housing for homeless veterans.

“The Bourbon Mixer is an event we look forward to every year…best of all 100% of the dollars raised through sponsorships and the silent auction go directly to the benefiting charity,” Said Whisky Chick Kerrie Clifford.

The Bourbon Mixer will include tastings of unique bourbons, bourbon cocktails created especially for this event, and bourbon-infused treats like popsicles and root beer floats. Attendees will enjoy live music by Tanita Gaines, appetizers and desserts. Attendees will also mingle with Master Distillers, Bourbon Ambassadors and other bourbon celebrities. For those that don’t partake in the brown spirit, there will be beer, wine and soft drinks.

Participating distilleries include Buffalo Trace, Maker’s Mark, Heaven Hill, Evan Williams, Angel’s Envy, Jefferson’s Reserve, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester and Brown Forman’s newest addition Cooper’s Craft.

The Bourbon Mixer is the brainchild of Linda Ruffenach and Bruce Corwin, founders of the social groups Whisky Chicks and the Bourbon Brotherhood. The Whisky Chicks create and share a variety of unique bourbon experiences in a relaxed social environment. The Bourbon Brotherhood meets monthly to indulge in bourbon and camaraderie. Both groups aspire to help members develop an appreciation of the taste and tradition of the country’s native spirit in the company of fellow bourbon lovers.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to support the good work of the Coalition, especially in its efforts to serve the veterans who’ve served on behalf of all of us,” says Linda Ruffenach.

“It’s a win-win to find a good purpose for indulging in something that’s also an integral part of our Kentucky heritage,” Bruce Corwin adds.
