Bourbon Mixer 2018

What happens when Whisky Chicks and Bourbon Brotherhood come together for a fund raiser? Well, after the first four years the combo has raised more than $87,000 for local charities. On August 25, 2018 the groups will be celebrating their 5th annual Bourbon Mixer, an anniversary traditionally celebrated with “Wood.” We think that’s quite apropos for an event that’s centered around bourbon, for we all know, one of the elements required by law for whiskey to legally be called bourbon is it must be aged in “charred new oak containers.”

Whisky produced in the U.S. at not exceeding 80% alcohol by volume (160 proof) from a fermented mash of not less than 51 percent corn and stored at not more than 62.5% alcohol by volume (125 proof) in charred new oak containers.

This year’s event, which is themed as a modern mid-century cocktail party, will once again include tastings of unique bourbons, bourbon cocktails, and bourbon-infused treats from 21 different distilleries. Attendees will also enjoy live music, appetizers and desserts, a silent auction with one-of-a-kind bourbon experiences and rare bottles of whisky, and the opportunity to mingle with other bourbon enthusiasts, Master Distillers and other bourbon celebrities.

Are they politically correct? Probably not. Do the Whisky Chicks invite men to attend their events. They sure do. Do the Bourbon Brotherhood invite women to attend their events? They sure do. This is bourbon after all; it’s all about bringing people together and celebrating life because, “No great story ever started with, ‘Let’s have a salad.’
