The race for the office of the President of the United States happens every four years. It’s a unique process that we celebrate as a nation. Many folks use this cycle as an opportunity to sell unique commemorative gifts to the American people. This time around, there’s a whiskey that will also celebrate the 2017 inauguration. The makers are quick to point out the idea came about long before the election was decided. Now, the only decision you will need to make is Bourbon or Rye.
The new whisky is a product of Proof and Wood Ventures, Inc. They have announced a limited edition Washington, DC release of the Presidential Term Single Barrel Rye and Single Barrel Bourbon to celebrate the commencement of a new four year term during the 58th Presidential Inauguration. The Presidential Dram whiskeys are a concept created by Ledroit Distributing’s Michael Cherner and entrepreneur Dave Schmier.
Transparency: Made By, Bottled In
Both whiskies were distilled and aged at the MGP distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, the formerly Seagram’s distillery. The distillery has been producing American Whiskey since 1853. The whiskey is bottled in Bardstown, KY by Michael Kanbar’s Strong Spirits.
The bottles are aptly red, white and blue – red and white label with blue wax for the Rye and blue and white label with red wax for the Bourbon. The Single Barrel Whiskies are non-chill filtered, and bottled at the exact proof they exit the barrel.

One Term – 4 Year Old Single Barrel Rye
The One Term Presidential Dram Straight Rye is the product of two single barrels. Each barrel has been aged a minimum 4 years and produced 150 bottles each.
Two Term – 8 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon
The Two Term Presidential Dram Straight Bourbon is the product of two single barrels. Both barrels are aged at least 8 years old. One barrel produced 150 bottles the other was not so lucky. The Angel’s were quite aggressive with the second barrel and it only produced 25 bottles of bourbon.
“Some who have seen the project questioned if one bottle is aimed at Democrats and one at Republicans,” said Dave Schmier. “We aimed to celebrate an important moment in American tradition, without any additional political party affiliation. We feel the most heated debate in America should be Bourbon vs Rye; and unlike political voting, in this case you can choose both.”
Two Term Presidential Dram Bourbon is bottled at 97 proof and will be available for approximately $99.99, and the One Term Presidential Dram Rye is bottled at 120.9 proof for a suggested retail price of $79.99.
