Kiaran McLaughlin has been dreaming of winning the Kentucky Derby since he was ten years old. He is hoping his Kiaran McLaughlin Racing Stable will finally reach his dream in the 2015 renewal of the Kentucky Derby with his horse ‘Frosted.’ To get to the race, both Kiaran and Frosted have had to overcome some big obstacles.

Kiaran has had to overcome a MS diagnosis.  Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. He had to decide not to let it stop him from pursuing his dream of standing in the winners circle on Kentucky Derby day. He also had to help Frosted with surgery to overcome challenges with a breathing problem as he raced to earn a spot in the Kentucky Derby starting gate for 2015.

McLaughlin has come close to winning the Kentucky Derby, in 2005 ‘Closing Argument’ was runner-up behind ‘Giacomo.’ He’s hoping this will be his year. Watch the video to learn more about this stables road to the 141st Kentucky Derby. This year’s Run for the Roses is Saturday, May 2.
