My Old Kentucky Home Virtual 2020 Performance

The Kentucky Derby has been run on the first Saturday in May continuously since 1875. The only exception to this was a delay in 1945 because of World War II and now in 2020 because of the Coronavirus. This years Kentucky Derby has been postponed until the first Saturday in September, September 5, 2020. And wouldn’t you know it the weather in Kentucky on this first Saturday in May is 80 degrees, sunshine and blue skies, go figure.

Though the race is not happening today there are two things everyone should enjoy. A hardy version of ‘My Old Kentucky Home’ and a classic Mint Julep. Watch the video below to hear more than 60 cast members from The Stephen Foster Story from Bardstown, Kentucky as they joined together virtually to continue a treasured Derby weekend tradition: the singing of ‘My Old Kentucky Home’. Watch and be prepared for chills!

And to get you in a holly, jolly mood try a few of these Mint Julep cocktail recipes and start counting down the days until the call to the post for the 146th running of the Kentucky Derby on September 5, 2020.
