Four Roses 2015 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) will hold its second limited-release lottery on Nov. 2, offering 66 bottles of Four Roses Small Batch Limited Edition 2015 bourbon for purchase.

This barrel-strength, non-chill-filtered special batch commemorates the August 2015 retirement of Master Distiller Jim Rutledge after 49 years with Four Roses. Each bottle will cost $99.99. Originally, the supplier made 24 bottles available to Pennsylvania, but the PLCB received notification that an additional 42 bottles were available. A total of 66 bottles will now be available through the Limited-Release Lottery.

Because licensees constitute about one quarter of the PLCB’s annual sales, 25 percent of the inventory will be available to licensees, while 75 percent will be available to individual consumers. In this case, 16 bottles are available to licensees and 50 are available to individual consumers.

In the first lottery held by the PLCB only 33 licensees out of over 13,000 applied to be a part of the lottery. We’ll see if word got out this time. If I was a restaurant or bar, I would be first on the list, just imagine the event and buzz you could create for your business!

The lottery is open to Pennsylvania residents and licensees age 21 or older who provide both a verifiable Pennsylvania billing address and a Pennsylvania shipping/store address at registration. Any registrant with an invalid or out-of-state address will be removed from the lottery.

Because the PLCB enforces a one-bottle-per-customer policy for its rarest products, only one customer at each billing address can register. Entries will be vetted for duplicative names, addresses and other information, and duplicates will be deleted from the lottery pool. Purchase is limited to one bottle per participant. Lottery drawings will be witnessed by an independent third party, and winners will be selected at random by a computer program.
