Join Moonshine University and Kentucky Opera for a very special course highlighting the alcoholic delights found in opera’s most popular masterpieces.
“Milk punch or whiskey?” asks Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. Now is your chance to taste both!
We will take a musical voyage exploring early to contemporary opera and while examining (and tasting) the exotic and conventional spirits that figure prominently in various operatic plots. Part intro to opera, spirit tasting, and drinking songs, we aim to please novices and experts alike.
Strucuture
- 5:30 PM – Appetizers and cash bar (beer and wine)
- 6:00 PM – Class begins! Prepare for music, discussion, and cocktails.
Course Objectives
To introduce and explore the connection between beautiful music and beautiful spirits.
Each session will explore different examples of drink within opera.
Previous sessions are not a prerequisite for future sessions, and participants can join at any point in the series.
