Bardstown Bourbon Company - Peter Loftin has Died November 2019

Bardstown Bourbon Company located in BardstownKentucky has released a statement about the passing of Peter T. Loftin the company’s Founder and Chairman on Tuesday November 19, 2019.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bardstown Bourbon Company chairman Peter Loftin. Peter passed away on Saturday, November 16 in Miami, Florida. Please keep Peter’s family in your thoughts during this difficult time. Information about any funeral or memorial services will be released as it becomes available.”

In 2016, Loftin founded the largest new whiskey distillery in the United States. Bardstown Bourbon Company is the first-of-its-kind Collaborative Whiskey, Bourbon, and Rye Distilling Program. Loftin serves as Chairman of the board and was instrumental in the recent Constellation Brands partnership. Constellation Brands, the parent of Corona and a Fortune 500 company with a diversified spirits portfolio, acquired a minority stake in the Bardstown Bourbon Company in October 2016 and plans to develop new brands and create a long-term supply of authentic Kentucky whiskey, bourbon and rye.

Peter Loftin was named Business North Carolina Magazine 1989 ‘North Carolina Entrepreneur of the Year’

Peter Loftin made his mark in the telecommunications industry after the Bell telephone monopoly break up. In 1983 he founded and led Raleigh, North Carolina based Business Telecom Inc. (BTI) to the successful expansion of the corporation to one of the nation’s top telecommunications companies as well as the largest private employer in the city of Raleigh. Loftin is credited with being the pioneer of the flat rate pricing for long distance offering in the telecommunications industry.

In 1989 Business North Carolina Magazine named Loftin “North Carolina Entrepreneur of the Year.” He has been significantly involved in the business and community affairs of North Carolina. Mr. Loftin was the largest contributor to the BTI Center for the Performing Arts in 1997, which is the largest performing arts venue between Washington, D.C., and Tampa. Raleigh Mayor Tom Fetzer and the City Council recognized him as the single largest contributor ever to the city of Raleigh.

Mr. Loftin is also a major contributor to the Airborne & Special Operations Museum, which provides a unique educational experience on United States history and basic core values through the preservation interpretation and recognition of U.S. Army airborne and special operations history, equipment, technology, legend, art and weaponry. Mr. Loftin also serves on the Board of the Miami Beach Police Athletic League.

Peter Loftin was born and raised in North Carolina to mother, Maree Nelson Loftin, who was an elementary school teacher and to father, Robert G. Loftin, a Korean War veteran, who retired from the U.S. Government Social Security Administration.
